India's venture capital (VC) industry is rethinking its fee structure, moving away from the standard “2 and 20” model, where 2% goes to management fees and 20% is taken from profits. A significant contributor to India's economic expansion is foreign direct investment, or FDI. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) lists the following investors as the top FDI recipients in FY24: Singapore: $11.8 billion Mauritius: $8.0 billion USA: $5.0 billion Netherlands: $4.9 billion Japan: $3.2 billion UAE: $2.9 billion United Kingdom: $1.2 billion Cyprus: $0.8 billion With an enormous investment of $11.8 billion, Singapore is in the lead, followed by the USA and Mauritius. These investments demonstrate the close economic links and international investors' faith in the Indian market.

Application of the Actively Lazy Style Of Investing September’24 turned out to be yet another good month for us at Magadh Capital PMS. Our Future Stars approach delivered impressive returns of 3.54%/69.54%/57.23% annualized over last 1 month/1 year/ 2 years. Value for Growth approach too notched up solid figures of 2.98%/45.36%/41.43% annualized( More details in the charts below). The month of October till date has been relatively choppy for Indian markets. As on 8th October, 2024 the Nifty 50 index has fallen by about 4.6% from the top. Factors like global geopolitics ( escalation in Israel-Iran faceoff, and rising crude oil prices), unleashing of macroeconomic stimulus by the Chinese government, and heavy selling by foreign investors in India seem to be playing the key roles here. We at Magadh Capital PMS remain fully invested. The current market weakness seems short term in nature. Indian stocks are well placed to create long term wealth. Occasional decline of 8-10% in stock markets is par for the course we feel. Interestingly, in last 5-7 years Indian stock markets have behaved rather ebulliently – displaying uncharacteristically low number of correction along the way. As a result the large number of new market participants – who have started investing in last 5-7 years, and have not experienced a proper bear market ( of the kind seen in 2008 or in 2000-2002), get rattled by even a 5% correction. We reckon that the current episode of market weakness is a typical short term dip and is unlikely to turn into a deep and prolonged bear market. At Magadh Capital PMS we apply what we call as the“ Actively Lazy style of investing” . This style is rooted in our ability to remain idle backed by an active thought process. It’s exciting to see how fast things are moving at #GIFTCity, #India’s new international #financial #hub. The Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (#ADIA) has just set up a subsidiary, showing real confidence in the potential of Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City). Last week, I was part of a panel discussion at the #HedgeFunds #Conference, where #regulators, #lawyers, #tax advisors, and #fundmanagers came together to talk about the opportunities and challenges of GIFT City. One of the big concerns was the regulatory framework in GIFT, especially after the regulator stalled the Family Investment Fund (FIF) process, which raised questions about how things would progress. But with #ADIA now operational and planning to route their #Indian #investments through their GIFT City subsidiary, it’s a strong signal that GIFT is moving in the right direction. Insourcing is the new trend . The share of IT in India's services exports fell two percentage points over three years, the Economic Survey said last week. It also indicated an expansion of “other business services.” These include captive GCCs. The GCC segment was the second-largest contributor to services exports at 26% in the last fiscal year, it observed. The figure was 24.7% in FY23. Experts say that for every captive global capability centre (GCC) setting up in India or elsewhere, an IT services firm is losing business. The shift is being spurred by the high cost of service providers, usually 20 to 30% more than the actual cost structure of talent and operations in India, along with specialised needs related to artificial intelligence (AI). #IT Services#Outsourcing#India#GCCs#Insourcing
