How do we know if our suppliers are being authentic when it comes to validating their commitments to the circular economy? One of the largest manufacturer's state's their commitment as recycling and using better packaging when the biggest CO2 overhead is their output. Here are some ideas on evaluating the authenticity of a suppliers commitment to making real change. https://lnkd.in/gXkfd5d2

Its confession time !! This wasn't me again but my daughter who made the picture when I told her... When we break down the raw materials in around one tonne of switches we can typically expect to see around the following in raw materials 160g of gold 790g of silver 310kg of copper 9g of palladium. All of which make their way back into the supply chain in Australia. Their is no better version of the circular economy than this. So even if we cannot repurpose what you have we can certainly make sure we are extracting what is valuable and putting it to good use hashtag #circulareconomy hashtag #circulareconomyaustralia hashtag #cisco hashtag #recircit

Cisco vs. Arista: Who's strengths lie where? When it comes to switching, Cisco and Arista are the biggest names in the game, but their strengths are very different. Let’s break it down. 1. Broad Portfolio (Cisco) vs. Data Center Focus (Arista) Cisco is the go-to for companies looking for end-to-end networking solutions. With offerings across enterprise, data center, and service provider environments, Cisco has a wide portfolio of products that address nearly every networking need. Arista, on the other hand, is laser-focused on high-performance data center switching. It’s the clear choice for companies that need speed, scalability, and simplicity in their data centers, but it doesn’t cover as wide a range of network environments as Cisco. 2. Network Complexity (Cisco) vs. Simplicity (Arista) Cisco's solutions can be complex, which is both a strength and a weakness. It’s built for large-scale enterprises that require deep customization, but with that power comes complexity, including more overhead in terms of management and cost. Arista wins on simplicity. Its single operating system (EOS) across all platforms allows for easier management and quicker deployments, which is a huge advantage for cloud-native organizations and those seeking streamlined operations. 3. Legacy vs. Innovation Cisco has the benefit of decades of reliability and proven solutions, especially in traditional enterprise networks. It’s a name everyone trusts. Arista is known for innovation in high-speed, high-performance environments, particularly in data centers that demand cutting-edge solutions for 100/200/400 GbE deployments. Cisco is sometimes seen as slower to adapt to modern needs like automation and cloud-scale networking compared to Arista. 4. End-to-End (Cisco) vs. Open Integration (Arista) Cisco offers a tightly integrated ecosystem—great if you want a full-stack, vendor-lock-in approach. Arista plays nicely with open standards, meaning enterprises can mix and match best-of-breed solutions without being tied to one vendor. This flexibility is a major draw for customers looking to avoid the lock-in associated with Cisco. In short: Cisco: Broad, complex, and enterprise-focused. Arista: Simple, high-performance, and perfect for the cloud.

So its final. Security have said that you must replace based on end of vulnerability support. It sounds like its now goodbye to those 7 years where we might be able to use assets. Will some of you have to spend all your time and resources just replacing each year? If you do then here is a useful checklist you can use to at least try to do the right thing what you want taken away https://lnkd.in/gZfcN_52

We are starting to see that security are insisiting refreshes happen as a result of end of software support. So the 'useful life' of switches are now stepping into the 3 to 5 years. Should this point in time really be the point to consider refreshing. We have a number of other suggestions that you should consider before spending on LAN switch replacements: https://lnkd.in/g-ad233Q
