📢 𝐒𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭. Abu Dhabi’s Department of Health Abu Dhabi (DOH), in partnership with the Institute for Healthier Living Abu Dhabi (IHLAD) and the Healthy Longevity Medicine Society (HLMS), proudly launches the world’s first evidence-based standards for Healthy Longevity Medicine clinics, setting Abu Dhabi as a leader in the future of healthcare. 🌍 Dr. Nicole Sirotin, MD DipABLM FACP, CEO of IHLAD and Council Member of HLMS, remarked, “The UAE steps up as the global trailblazer leading the Healthy Longevity revolution: it is the first country to set standards for the ‘Longevity Clinic’ by defining comprehensive clinical practice guidelines. The innovative partnership between the Department of Health Abu Dhabi, the renowned Healthy Longevity Medicine Society (HLMS), and IHLAD has led to the creation of the world's first evidence-based guidelines to set the standards for Healthy Longevity Medicine. This achievement reinforces UAE’s leadership in redefining the next era of precision healthcare.” Prof. Dr. Andrea B. Maier, President of HLMS and Chair of the UAE DOH’s Scope and Standards Working Group, shared, “Non-communicable diseases, accounting for the majority of disease burden, are on the rise as nations age. In response, healthcare systems need to reshape and focus on prevention and healthy aging, empowering citizens to manage their health proactively with support from general and specialized practices. This strategic collaboration culminates in the development of the world’s first formalized document providing evidence-based standards for healthy longevity medicine. This pioneering framework establishes the UAE as the first nation to clearly define the scope and services required within a 'Healthy Longevity Clinic,' underscoring the UAE’s role in shaping global healthcare.” This milestone marks Abu Dhabi’s leadership in a new era of healthcare innovation; one that prioritizes prevention, healthspan, and personalized, longevity-focused care. Together, we are advancing a healthier future for all. Nicole Sirotin, MD DipABLM FACP Uma Senthilkumar Andrea B. New Study: How Changing Your Diet Can Add 10 Years to Your Life 🍎🌿 A groundbreaking study published in Nature reveals that switching from processed meats and sugary foods to a diet rich in whole grains, nuts, and fruits can increase your lifespan by up to 10 years. 🕙 The study, which followed over 460,000 participants from the UK Biobank, found immediate life expectancy boosts for middle-aged adults, and even older adults saw gains. Dr. Lars Fadnes, the lead researcher, emphasized that while all healthy food choices are important, the most significant longevity gains come from cutting down processed meats and added sugars, known for fueling chronic inflammation and disease. This research underscores the undeniable impact that what we eat has on both lifespan and quality of life, inspiring healthier choices at any age. It's a powerful reminder: It’s never too late to make changes that add both years and vitality to our lives. #nutrition #longevity #wholefoods #publichealth #wellnessjourney #healthylifestyle Institute for Healthier Living Abu Dhabi https://lnkd.in/dHmpsX9e

On this 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐃𝐚𝐲, we align with the FAO’s mission to promote sustainable food systems and equitable access to nutritious food for all. At IHLAD, we believe that the quality of food on our plates has a profound impact on longevity and health. Dr. Scott Stoll MD, a leading voice in lifestyle medicine, highlights the undeniable link between nutrition and long-term health outcomes in his latest article. By following a whole food plant-based (WFPB) diet, we can combat chronic diseases and support longer, healthier lives. 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬: - A study published in 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐍𝐮𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 found that high fruit and vegetable intake significantly lowers the risk of mortality from 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫. - The 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐲-𝟐, which followed 96,000+ participants, found that plant-based diets reduce cardiovascular mortality and promote longevity. - Research published in 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞 revealed that individuals with type 2 diabetes who adopted a plant-based diet saw dramatic improvements in blood sugar control and reduced medication usage in just 𝟏𝟐 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐬. - Dietary factors contribute to 𝟑𝟎-𝟒𝟎% 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐬, according to a study published in 𝐉𝐀𝐌𝐀 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐞, with vegetarians and vegans having lower overall cancer incidence. These findings reinforce a simple but powerful message: our daily food choices play a critical role in shaping not just how long we live, but how well we live. At IHLAD, we continue to focus on advancing health through precision lifestyle medicine, helping people and communities make informed choices about food that not only sustain life but also improve its quality. #IHLAD #InstituteForHealthierLivingAbuDhabi #WorldFoodDay #GlobalHealth #Longevity #FAO

The convergence of #precisionmedicine, #multiomics, and #publichealth into precision public health marks a transformative shift in future #healthcare systems driven by the integration and analysis of diverse health data sets. Advances in multiomics beyond #genetics are resulting in an explosion of diverse health data sets, causing a significant shift in healthcare by bringing together precision medicine and public health into precision public health. By our COO, Rudi Schmidt The combination of multiomics data is essential for understanding complex diseases and developing precision medicine. This combination can reveal novel insights into the molecular basis of diseases and drug responses, identify new biomarkers and therapeutic targets, and predict and optimize individualized treatments. The combination of epigenomics, metagenomics, metabolomics, and for example, pharmacogenomics enable a deeper understanding of subgroups on a population health level and the development of strategies for a healthcare system. However, the availability of high quality big data plays a crucial role in precision public health as data quality is mandatory enabling more granular predictions and understanding of public health risks, as well as customizing treatments for specific and homogeneous subpopulations. The ability to handle large volumes and varieties of structured and unstructured data allows for more precise disease surveillance, risk prediction, and targeted interventions. This combination of #bigdata and advanced analytical methods, including #artificialintelligence (#AI), helps policymakers and public health decision-makers make sense of the available data, ultimately improving public health outcomes. The integration of multiomics data and big data into precision public health presents several challenges. These include the need for advanced computational tools and analytical methods to handle the complexity and heterogeneity of the data, as well as issues related to data availability, governance, and privacy. Addressing these challenges requires a collaborative effort among data scientists, healthcare professionals, and policymakers to develop robust frameworks and infrastructures that can support the ethical and effective use of AI and big data in public health. ————————- Rudi will talk about these and other aspects of “Precision Medicine, Real-World Data and Public Health“ at the LIFE – Laboratory Insights for Excellence, 2024 conference. 🗓️October 22nd 2024 🕑 2pm Link: https://life-uae.com/ PureLab

World Mental Health Day: Prioritizing Well-Being for a Healthier Future Today marks World Mental Health Day, a global initiative led by the World Health Organization (WHO) to raise awareness and promote mental well-being. This day serves as a crucial reminder to reflect on the importance of mental health in every aspect of our lives. Mental health affects everything—from our relationships to productivity—and addressing it is key to living healthier, more fulfilling lives. Why It Matters: Globally, mental health challenges continue to rise. In the UAE, a 2020 study found that 57% of people suffered from at least one mental health disorder; the two most common, anxiety and depression, impacted 56.4% and 31.5% of the population, respectively. The pressures of modern life, work stress, and societal expectations all play a significant role in this growing concern. What We're Doing at IHL: At the Institute for Healthier Living (IHL), we understand that mental health is just as essential as physical health. To support both our team and clients, we are implementing comprehensive mental wellness programs. Our approach includes: - IHL Connect Days: These retreats bring all employees together, promoting mindfulness and encouraging open conversations about mental health. We use this time to understand employee needs, implement necessary changes, and foster a supportive environment. - Employee Wellness Initiatives: We prioritize reducing workplace stress through tailored programs, resources, and activities designed to enhance overall well-being. Why It’s Beneficial: Supporting mental health is not only about improving quality of life; it’s about fostering resilience and a more engaged, productive, and happy workforce. For employees, mental wellness support leads to increased job satisfaction, reduced burnout, and a stronger sense of purpose. In fact, organizations that invest in mental health support see a 4x return on investment due to reduced absenteeism and improved employee retention. Actionable Steps You Can Take: 1. Prioritize Self-Care: Make time for activities that relax and recharge you—whether it’s exercising, reading, or spending time with loved ones. 2. Seek Support: Don’t hesitate to seek professional help if you’re feeling overwhelmed. Early intervention can make a world of difference. 3. Promote a Supportive Workplace: Encourage open conversations about mental health at work and ensure access to resources for employees. 4. Practice Mindfulness: Incorporate mindfulness techniques into your daily routine to manage stress and enhance focus. 5. Stay Connected: Strong social connections are key to maintaining mental well-being. Reach out to friends, family, or colleagues regularly. This World Mental Health Day, let’s take meaningful steps to improve our mental well-being and support those around us. #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealthMatters #IHL #HealthierLiving #WellnessInitiative
