Ecologically friendly actions can make sound economic sense, as demonstrated by GAC Sweden's latest recycling efforts.
A recycling triumph for GAC Sweden! Working with a local company, Remade in Sweden, our Regional IT Systems Engineer for Europe and Africa Enes Gashi, based in Gothenburg, has generated around USD 900 for the company by recycling redundant IT equipment. “By recycling these devices, we’re taking proactive steps to minimize our environmental impact and contribute to a more sustainable future,” Enes explains. "We have recycled over 50 devices, including old laptops, desktops, mobile phones and monitors. Remade in Sweden ensured all devices were securely wiped or destroyed to meet our requirements, aligning with our ISO27001 certification. Data on hard drives was erased using certified software or destroyed in compliance with GDPR standards, guaranteeing full traceability and data security.” In addition to the income generated, GAC Sweden also received an environmental report highlighting their impressive total carbon dioxide (CO2) reductions. Nils Igelström, GAC Sweden’s MD, applauds Enes’s initiative. He says: “Of course, recycling and reduced wastage is good, but to reap financial benefits for doing it is especially rewarding. I hope this will inspire other GAC companies to seek out similar local initiatives, contributing to the Group’s global commitment to adapt, innovate and reduce.”
