At #COP16 in Riyadh, global leaders gathered to tackle the urgent challenges of land degradation and drought. While the outcomes sparked debate, one fact remains clear: these environmental issues have deep human consequences. CTG’s Regional Director for MENA, Iman S., attended COP16 to connect to global conversations on resilience and solutions. At CTG, we see firsthand how environmental challenges affect the most vulnerable communities. By enabling humanitarian projects in conflict-affected regions, we focus on solutions that build stability and resilience for those who need it most. Because when the land is damaged, lives are disrupted – and action matters.

AI in humanitarian aid: exciting opportunity or risky? In 2024, 300 million people needed some form of humanitarian assistance. AI could transform how aid is delivered – predicting disasters, speeding logistics, and more. But it could also create risks. Do you think AI has a place in humanitarian work? #AidEx was a highlight of this year for us. Our Sustainability Manager, Mia Zickerman-White joined other CTGers at AidEx - The Global Humanitarian Aid Community in conversations around how humanitarian aid can be delivered better in conflict-affected hotspots; and the role of localisation was a key theme. In this piece, Mia unpacks what localisation means, why it is so key to aid delivery, and how it is being integrated into aid strategies around the world. https://lnkd.in/dbkCUwqs Pictured speaking on empowering women in fragile and conflict-affected areas at AidEx 2024, from left to right: Mia Zickerman-White – CTG Dr. Mary Okumu – ForAfrika Maria Krisch – Women’s Peace & Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) Cristina Muñoz Pavón – Alianza por la Solidaridad – ActionAid

Ukraine is now the most mined country in the world, with 23% of its land at risk of contamination with landmines and unexploded ordnance. But there are lots of people dedicating their time to change this, including CTG Mine Action Officer Ihor Shevstov. UNDP recently covered the comprehensive efforts of deminers and technical survey dogs to clear the land in Ukraine and make it safe again. Today, on World Children’s Day, we celebrate these young voices calling for a brighter future. World Children’s Day is UNICEF’s global day of action for children, by children, marking the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Let’s support every child’s right to raise their voice on the issues that matter to them. Because even the smallest voice can create the loudest echo of change.
