From a College Dream to a Global Movement: Bizthon Joins Paris Blockchain Week 2025! 12 years ago, I was a college student filled with ideas—ideas that could change the world (or at least that’s what I told myself). A selected group of 20 students will undergo customized training to build industry-leading dapps on top of Alephium's Blockchain. - Organized by Blymo.XYZ under our Blockchain center of excellence - On behalf of Alephium, a leading layer 1 Blockchain with proof of less work consensus - At the prestigious Lovely Professional University - Starting 10th November The objective of this workshop is multifold: 1. Emphasize the need for longer training programs, not just one day workshops specific to a protocol 2. Build educational material which can be used repeatedly 3. Foster a collaboration between Industry-Academia to further build more educational programs as we explore minor degrees and properly integrated Blockchain degrees. This program comes just a week after our 15-day "Build Better DeFi with Alephium" hackathon on BizThon : The Global Business Hackathon platform where 20 amazing teams joined and have submitted innovative projects. Results being announced on the 3rd of November. The success of this initiative was realized when one team contributed to the Alephium open source, enhancing some smart contract functionality. 𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄? OpenBSD's first hackathon wasn't about winning prizes—it was about breaking cryptographic barriers. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱: Back in 1999, ten developers met in Calgary, Canada, to tackle a major problem. The U.S. government had strict regulations on sharing cryptographic software with other countries, making it difficult to develop secure, global systems. These developers wanted to make the internet safer for everyone. So, they decided to work together and find a solution. They called it a "𝗵𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗱𝗮𝘆"—a non-stop coding session to solve this issue. This event marked the birth of the 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁-𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻! The name stuck because it resembled a marathon—just for coding. 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲, 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝗻 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼... At the same time, Sun Microsystems hosted their own coding event during the JavaOne conference. They challenged developers to create apps for a small device called the 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗺 𝗩, showcasing the potential of collaborative innovation. Both events demonstrated one powerful truth: when developers join forces, they can tackle big problems and create amazing solutions. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 - 𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵: Companies like Google and Facebook started hosting hackathons to spark innovation and build internal tools. - 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀: Universities began organizing hackathons for students, encouraging creativity and hands-on learning. - 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: Public sector organizations adopted hackathons to solve civic challenges. Today, hackathons are held worldwide, addressing issues ranging from healthcare to sustainability. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗛𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻 That initial event in Calgary proved that 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. It wasn’t about prizes—it was about solving a tough problem for the greater good.
