With International Women's Day coming up on March 8, Barbie decided this would be the perfect time to add to their Inspiring Women collection with a doll of the longest-serving First Lady of the United States.
Eleanor Roosevelt was more than just a First Lady, but a human rights activist, UN Spokesperson, and much more. Because of this, Mattel is honoring her legacy and accomplishments with a brand new doll of her own. Barbie stated:
"A champion of policies around civil and economic rights, Roosevelt's passionate advocacy was unwavering, even when faced with resistance. Her perseverance earned her the title "First Lady of the World," in recognition of her hard work and dedication to humanitarian efforts."
Eleanor's doll wears an Iris print dress with pearlescent buttons, a pearl necklace, a black hat, and heeled boots to complete her classic and elegant look.
Eleanor joins a slew of heroines in the Inspiring Women Series, including Maya Angelou, Ella Fitzgerald, Susan B. Anthony, Sally Ride, Rosa Parks, and more.
Mattel will also launch their virtual series called "You Can Do Anything" on March 6 to honor past female leaders such as Roosevelt and empowering women of today. The series will livestream on YouTube and Facebook every Saturday in March.
To celebrate Women's History Month in true fashion, you can add the Eleanor Roosevelt doll to your collection starting today!
