First reported by Deadline, Britney Spears's longtime manager Larry Rudolph has resigned.
According to the report, in a letter sent to Jamie Spears and Jodi Mongomery, the co-conservators of the singer, Rudolph said:
"It has been over 2 1/2 years since Britney and I last communicated, at which time she informed me she wanted to take an indefinite work hiatus. Earlier today, I became aware that Britney had been voicing her intention to officially retire."
This resignation follows all of the conservatorship controversy that has played out in the media since Spears's testimony in court on June 23.
In that court hearing, the pop star said:
"It is my wish and dream for all of this to end. I want my life back," Spears went on to say today in an often hurried manner as family, lawyers and court officials listened in. "I truly believe this conservatorship is abusive … I want to end the conservatorship without being evaluated. I want to petition to end the conservatorship."
In his letter, Rudolph denies knowing details of the conservatorship and said:
"As you know, I have never been a part of the conservatorship nor its operations, so I am not privy to many of these details. I was originally hired at Britney's request to help manage and assist her with her career. And as her manager, I believe it is in Britney's best interest for me to resign from her team as my professional services are no longer needed."
According to Vulture, in addition to Spears, clients of Rudolph's include Steven Tyler and Aerosmith.
Rudolph's letter of resignation ends his 25-year stint as the singer's manager.
