The UnLocked Project: Dr. Amy A. Morgan
Join the UnLocked Project for a special guest talk by Dr. Amy Morgan. Dr. Morgan is an assistant professor of couple and family therapy in the UMD Department of Family Science. Her research focuses on the health and resilience of families impacted by incarceration and after, as formerly incarcerated family members navigate reentry. Dr. Morgan also researches family relationships broadly, with expertise in separation, reunification, and fathering.

Info session for NSF Summer Research Experiences
The Office of Undergraduate Research will hold a Zoom information session for undergraduate students regarding summer Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REUs) supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF). Run by universities, colleges, and research organizations throughout the United States, NSF REU programs provide paid summer research opportunities to undergraduates in science, technology, engineering, and mathematical fields (including social, behavioral, and economic science fields). The information session will provide an overview of these programs and information on how to locate and apply to programs running in summer 2025. It will also feature a panel of UMD students who have participated in NSF REUs in the past.
Social Media, Business Models, and the Promotion of Extremism and Zero-Sum Mindsets
Join Balaji Padmanabhan, Dean's Professor of Decisions, Operations & Information Technologies Director, Center for Artificial Intelligence in Business at Maryland-Smith, and a panel of experts as they explore how social media business models fuel extremism and zero-sum mindsets. Joining Dr. Balaji will be Paul Barrett, Deputy Director & Senior Research Scholar, New York University, Joel Finkelstein, Senior Research Fellow, Rutgers University and Barnett S. Koven, National Security Specialist & Data Scientist.
