Techno overtakes tech-house as the best-selling genre on Beatport
This year's IMS Ibiza report has some huge stats in it
International Music Summit Ibiza's Business Report for 2016 has just been released, revealing that techno is the most popular genre on Beatport.
Tech-house was last year's sales leader on the digital music site and drum 'n' bass sales have increased the most since 2014, with the genre climbing to number six above progressive house and trance.
The stats don't lie regarding the success of the global electronic music industry: it's now worth $7.1 billion, a 60 per cent increase from just three years ago.
The IMS account of 2016 mentions a wealth of notable information, including Asia's prominent rise in dance music and electronic music events being the only type of entertainment to see a consistent year-to-year rise in the US.
