Trying to bootstrap the new flex, if I had the obj/ directory, then
parse.[ch] got built into there, and then scan.c couldn't be made
etc...

Probably a bootstrapping mistake, other users have been able to
bootstrap flex without problems.

Flex bootstraps correctly if initscan.c is copied to scan.c.
