Welcome to the Center for Career Services! Our main goal is to prepare students for the world of work and/or post-secondary education. Students are provided with a variety of project-based learning experiences as well as authentic work opportunities through their chosen programs of study and our Work-Based Learning Department. These experiences help in creating well-rounded students who are prepared to excel in the 21st century workplace.
We invite you to peruse our program offerings linked below, both those in which you may have a student enrolled and others to gain a deeper understanding of the depth and breadth of industry-informed and marketable skills training and preparation we provide. Our instructors are experts in their respective fields and infuse their curricula with real-world experience and practical training.
Another important focus for the Center for Career Services’ staff is to provide social and emotional support to all our students. This support is important as our students transition into the workforce and/or post-secondary education. The Guidance team and school social worker support students to ensure these services are delivered.

Students in Commercial Art are busy creating posters that feature Public Service Announcements. They will hang them throughout the Center for Career Services campus in the hope of spreading positive messages and uplifting their classmates.
Three FBI employees who serve very different assignments in the Federal Bureau of Investigation provided Center for Career Services students with insight into the top law enforcement agency in the U.S.
Seats were filled in classrooms across the Center for Career Services campus in Valhalla Nov. 15 as nearly 1,200 high school sophomores from 14 component school districts turned out for the annual Career Conference.
The event featured 73 presenters from dozens of career fields, providing insights and reflections on their professions for students who are at a key point in their high school careers.
“We feel that this collaboration together with SWBOCES has helped students explore the careers they’re interested in pursuing,” presenter Leticia Andujar, a school counselor from Sleepy Hollow High School, said. “It’s important that they start to think about it at this stage, even if this is ultimately not the career they want.”
Students in TV/Video Production learn a number of skills, from how to create a script to the technical aspects of shooting content and pre and post-production. Those skills are all applied while creating short films for their senior project.
After a year in the Emergency Medical Services program, students have the knowledge to help teach younger classmates, which serves to refine their own skills in the process.
Students in Automotive Technology classes are currently learning about engine repair, one of the eight test areas where a technician can earn Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification. They will take the certification test in January.
From planning to food prep to serving guests, Culinary Arts students at the Center for Career Services earn valuable experience and receive welcome feedback while cooking for and host large events at our Valhalla campus.
The Center for Career Services' campus in Valhalla teemed with parents and other visitors on Oct. 10, 2024 at our annual Open House and Back to School Night.
Every new student enrolled in Animal Science at the Center for Career Services is given a baby rat to care for and train throughout their two years in the program. It teaches them important skills that give them an edge in the profession.
